Written for a student who injured her left hand, Right Is Right is a whimsical piece that teaches sixteenth notes and subdivision. Going from a sixteenth note figure to a half note has always been a bit of a challenge for those students who resist subdividing every count. My students who play this have been willing to put in the time as they enjoy the sound of the cascading notes. the result has moved them on to the next level in counting,. Positions are easy to remember. patterns are graciously repetitive so that the student's learning curve is quite manageable. For that student who sits too closely to the piano, this piece will be a nice reminder to sit at a good distance, so that the arm and torso may work together for the wide range. Best of all. the piece can be learned in six weeks or less, just long enough for the student to stay engaged at his lesson while recuperating.
