The present Concerto for B Flat Trumpet and Orchestra was written in 1796 and dedicated to A. Weidinger, a trumpet player of the Court Opera Orchestra in Vienna. Weidinger improved the trumpet by applying the keys to it, covering side holes, and thus making possible the playing of chromatic notes between the natural notes. Haydn employs chromatic passages extensively in his Concerto. Arranged here with Piano accompaniment by Harold Perry and edited by Ernest Hall.
